Sara Barnoff began her studies at a young age under the guidance of her grandmother, a professional artist.
Throughout her childhood in rural Pennsylvania, she drew and dabbled with different types of painting media.
Animals and people were the focus of her drawing.
During her years at high school, she developed her painting style, working on portraits and very detailed life drawings.
Her media of choice was oil paints, though she frequently worked in watercolours and acrylics. At university Sara pursued her studies in nursing, but continued to take art courses as electives.
Her classes included art history and life drawing. After graduation there was little time to devote to her art.
Approximately three years ago, at a friend's urging, she took a class in watercolour painting with Barbara Simmons.
She was once again drawn into the world of art, taking long hours to complete large detailed paintings.
