Born in Germany, Katherine immigrated to Canada with her parents and sisters as a young child. She has called the West Island of Montreal home for three decades, but has also resided in Caracas, Venezuela, as well as Vancouver, British Columbia.

An early interest in art and painting, in later years progressed to studies of art techniques at Stewart Hall, Pointe Claire (1998); at Galerie du Village (1993-1999); workshops in drawing and painting at St. Lawrence College, Brockville, Ontario (2001-2002); and at the Visual Arts Centre, Westmount (2002).

Katherine's works include portraits, landscapes and florals with an emphasis on still life subjects. Katherine now divides her time between the Thousand Islands, where she is a member of the Thousand Islands Art Colony, and the West Island of Montreal where she is an active member of the Beaconsfield, Dorval and Kirkland Artists Associations. She has participated in a number of group exhibitions with the associations, and has recently been chosen to exhibit with the Stewart Hall 2003 Collection.

Katherine's paintings can be found in private art collections in Canada and the United States.

Artist's Statement
Art is more than wall decoration meant to compliment a room's decor. It incites both visual and emotional responses and fulfils our quest for beauty in our daily lives. It is necessary to the human psyche as the need of social interaction. Thus, the creative process satisfies not only the artist's need for expression, but the greater need in society for beauty in our daily lives. It is to this end that I focus my work on subjects and themes which convey the beauty of nature through the medium of oil on canvas.
