Born in Yorkshire, England, June Scarlett lived on the Isle of Wight, the Isle of Anglesy, Eastbourne and Twickenham. In 1963 she emigrated with her family to Beaconsfield.

"I love the variety of texture I can achieve with oils and I like painting with a knife. I find, however, certain subjects demand other treatments and I enjoy experimenting with the same subject but using a different medium."
